Harvesting, Curing & Storage: This question(s) relates to outdoor/sunlight/natural cycle growing and is about harvesting the buds and leaving the plant in the ground. Is it possible to remove all or most of the buds, and leave the plant in the ground, thereby allowing it to regenerate next year when the cycle begins again? Do outdoor plants die even if you leave them completely intact and don\'t remove any of the buds? If it is possible to \'harvest\' the buds in this way, and leave the plant in the ground to regenerate, what is the best method for doing this? A few years back I lived in a house and looked over the fence to see this amazing gnarly stand of plants next to my neighbours shed that looked by the size of the trunks, like trees that had been around for a while. |

Outdoor Growing: Hi guys, Can anybody tell me which strain to grow in Pakistan? We get the local indica growing wild here, but I think that's suited more to making hash than anything else. I'm looking for a skunky-type high, not the stoner kind. Temp ranges from around 3C in dec-jan to 48C in june. Quite a bit of rain in the moonsoon season of july-aug. Here's a nice graph of the average climate in Pakistan: http://www.world66.com/asia/southas...ore/lib/climate I would really appriciate any help...thanks. J* |

Answer |
| 2007-01-02 01:20 Alaska |
Cloning: I am rooting clones and germinating seedlings together in the same fluorescent seed-starter setup under a humidity dome. Will the seedlings (1" tall) suffer more from excess humidity with the dome on than the clones (taken 4 days ago) will suffer from too little humidity with the dome off? I am afraid that until the clones root it is too dangerous to leave the dome off (humidity is very low here). But I don't want to kill the seedlings from dampness. |

Lighting: I am thinking about purchasing a flourescent lighting kit that comes with two lights, one for veg, and one for flowering, its called a dual spectrum high output flourescent lighting kit. It says it provides 8400 lumens, and i believe its 85 watts. I was wondering if it was good enough for vegetative growth, and if it would be good enough for the flowering period as well, also would it cause the time needed to grow to be extended or the amount of bud to be produced be less. |

At what point should I move them from the styrafome cup to the outdoors? also I hear it takes about 3-4 months before you can begin smoking them. Is there anyway to speed up the growing process? I am afraid that by the end of august it will be too cold and I will not be around to water them. |

GrowFAQ Questions: Hi I'm growing 3 plants outside - 1 in a pot 2 in the ground. The one in the pot is fint, however, the two in the ground, of around the same height (4ft) have produced much fewer 'branches' - help - the plants seem to have bolted and produced sod all potential budding stems - can I make them any better or is it too late, or will they yield more from fewer stems, they seem a little whispy - long branched with little foalige on the ends. Also, once they all reach 5ft, I really should nip the tops out so they dont go over the fence, will I get a decent yield doing this or more yield it I ben and train the branches down and too the side so they dont pop over the fence? Pest & Disease Control: I have a gravel path around my house which becomes covered with a green, algae-type slime, esp. after it rains. This is very unattractive and can be dangerously slippery when wet. Originally, it was limited to one place but has spread so parts look like a green carpet. Plant Trouble: ok. I used to grow in water 15-20 yrs ago. never EVER had a problem. I've started a legal grow, and am experiencing a couple issues. 1) I go clones in dirt, so just left them, but cut a couple clones and put 'em in water. They started normaly, but began to show a lot of yellowing on a couple larger leafs. interestingly, the trouble seems to be at the point that faces light. I have since started more clones, the ones farther from the light, seem to be doing fine. here's where I might have gone wrong: too high nut content. I just started 'em at 1000 ppm. (forgot that it's good to start slowly. I know. dumb). 2)I'm in a small bucket. (5 gallons). WAY less water than I used to use, and it seems to go acidic quickly. (I am adding ph up almost constantly). Vegging under a HPS (400 W) because my bigger lights are flowering another crop at another location. ps... MAJOR ISSUE HERE. I found a Hermie amongst some seedlings that dude started, they WERE female, without question. When I went to location yesterday, and closely inspected these particular strains, I found branches with the little pods. a) have I basically ruined the whole crop, or because I caught them early, am I ok? (I cut off all of the troubled branches. Am I/we asking for disaster by leaving this plant in the room with healthy females, ie, should I remove it? I thought it was a good learning exp for both of us. I've NEVER even seen a male). Well, that's about enough for now. Thanks guys... or to anyone who takes the time to help. I feel like I'm starting all over again, because I've never seen issues like these. Also, been so long surely there's things I've forgotten, but I think I'm doing everything almost identically to 20 yrs ago. sure wish I'd have kept at it. :( |

Getting Started: i have 2 closets 2x6 and 8 ft tall. for one i have a 48in 8 bulb t5 6500k flouro and some cfls for veg. the other has a 600w hps with a air cooled reflector for flowering. i would like to at the minimum be dealer free forever but would of course like the largest harvest as fast as possible like everyone does. so i ordered 10 fem seeds from nirvana 5 aurora indica and 5 bubblelicious indica. i have some nice bag seeds flowering now just for practice but am getting ready to start the good seeds. what would be the best method to grow in this kind of space? should i plant all the seeds and cram them in and clone for a 8 week cycle or 4 to 6 at a time in a scrog 2x3.5 sized help help help there is too much info out there i cant decide. i want to make the best of the money and time i have spent. any ideas will be loved thank you thank you thank you i need a game plan!!!!!!!!!!! thanks again Alice;) |

Botany & Plant Physiology: I am in mid-week 5 during the vegetative stage in my first growing experience. I noticed a lot of the larger leaf stems have little red speckled deposits. They have a very pungent "resin" smell and feel grainy to the touch. Are these some form of trichomes? Are they at all a preliminary indication of sex before I go into the flowering stage? Thanks for your response and keep growing, smoking, and smiling! |

Getting Started: I am looking for a website, or possible thread here where i can find data specifically tailor made for available seeds/strains. The data Im looking for: temp ranges, humidity ranges, veg and flower cycles, and yield. Is there such a place that holds all info. I want to be able to shop prices on seeds and then compare stats. I realize there are general guidelines for temps and such, but im looking for specs tailormade for each seed/strain that i am considering purchasing. HELP! |
